A few words...
"Hello and welcome to my profile. I think it's important for me to tell you a little about my background, my experience and how I operate. Since I get to know all my candidates background in detail I think it's only fair they find a little about me!
I started my career working for Sky Television in Customer Services and quickly moved into Telesales which I loved. I quickly realised there was little chance of making good money or developing my career the way I wanted. I registered with a couple of agencies one of which arranged and interview with an IT Recruitment agency for a Resourcer position.
I took up the role supporting the Director with The Kingsford-Smith Partnership and learnt the ropes as a Resourcer / Trainee Contract Recruiter. After 12 months I was promoted and moved into a full blown Consultant. I stayed in this position for three and a half years and loved it however when another opportunity came up with one of their competitors to work within the Permanent IT sector I jumped at the chance to join Direct Resources. 18 successful months later I was promoted to Senior Consultant and continued to focus placing Permanent IT staff. Three years into this role the company was sold and the working environment changed significantly which prompted my move to Careercare. In this role I continued to do what I knew best - Permanent IT Recruitment.
18 months passed when my major client ZEDA approached me to join them as their Resource Manager which I felt would broaden my horizons and allow me to see recruitment from the other side of the fence. It certainly did! I had extensive experience of dealing with agencies- the good and the not so good. The position also gave me exposure to resource planning, training development and management as I had direct man management of 12 people. Although the job was excellent I missed the sales buzz and the commission that agency recruitment brings with it. With the threat of redundancies looming due to the economic downturn and demand for IT staff I started to consider my future career plans in more detail. The option of starting my agency had always appealed to me and when one of my ex colleagues approached me with similar objectives we set up FH1 in December 2001.
Our main reason for starting a company recruiting in the Rec to Rec sector was down to a number of reasons. IT was flat and we had no real experience of recruiting in other sectors. Previously when I had moved position I had been represented by 3 of the other Rec to Recs which I had been fairly disappointed with the quality of service. They simply had got my cv from a job advertised on S1 and sent it to 15 different companies.
In our 4 years of trading we have had our ups and downs like any recruitment desk. More ups than downs thank goodness. We have placed with over 60 agencies in Scotland and have a significant number of happy Recruiters placed. I am passionate about what I do. I am 100% committed to what I do and to me it's more than just a job. Having recently completed a management buy out of FH1 I have extensive plans to develop the brand and company further to allow FH1 to service the Scottish Market more effectively - watch this space!
If you have 12 months current Agency experience and are considering your options please feel free to contact me to find out how we may be able to help. All our applications are confidential and will be handled in an ethical, completely impartial manner - guaranteed. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
